Lesson Overview:

Year 5 worked on Greek myths in History, we particularly focused on the story of Demeter and Persephone, ‘The Kidnapped Bride’, which explains how the the different seasons came about. We illustrated a Greek pot with our favourite scene from the myth.

Cross curricular learning is a brilliant way to explore if students can adapt their use of thinking skills to different learning contexts and break down subject barriers. In English we wrote several scenes from the story as a playscript and designed the stage setting and the costumes. Then in ICT we created a trailer for the film of the story ‘The Kidnapped Bride’ using iMovie. We chose either a Bollywood, Fairytale or Indie theme.
