Year 5 ICT Lesson – Excel and Data Entry
Year 5 put their spreadsheet knowledge to the test in today’s ICT Lesson, with Mrs Alderson. The question they are investigating is “does a pack of Smarties contain the same number of Smarties and the same amount of different colours?”. Each pupil will make a prediction to what the outcome will be, before they start.
The children are each given a pack of Smarties, they empty the contents and count the amount of smarties, count the individual colours and input the data into their spreadsheet.
The children work on individual sheets, which collates together onto a master spreadsheet. Once they have added in all their data, they will generate the totals through an equation in the ‘totals’ field, generate graphs and pie charts and compare their findings to their initial predictions.
